On November 4, 2026, Microsoft announced three new features in Clarity, its free site analytics tool. Agent Activity shows what OpenAI, Google and Anthropic agents do on a site, and simulations test whether an agent completes a task (commerce and travel to start). Brand Agents lets products from eligible Shopify and WooCommerce stores appear in Copilot, Bing and MSN, and extends to local businesses on WordPress with appointment booking. Ask Clarity answers in plain language from recorded sessions, in closed beta for retailers. Microsoft presents the features as available globally; its documentation classes Brand Agents as beta.

Microsoft published three Clarity announcements on November 4, 2026, grouped under one idea: a site's customer now takes one of three paths. They browse on their own, ask an AI for a recommendation, or hand the purchase or booking to an agent.1 The announcement covers measurement (what agents do), visibility (products in Microsoft's assistants) and analysis (querying your own data). This article goes through each feature with the limits Microsoft itself states.
01Agent Activity: what agents do on a site
Microsoft starts from one of its analyses: 5.23 million agent sessions across 230,511 Clarity projects, from August 13 to September 9, 2026, in which it detected agents from OpenAI, Google and Anthropic. Weekly agent sessions nearly doubled in three weeks to almost 2 million, and agents such as Muse or Dots were shopping, booking and filling out forms.1
The dashboard
The Agent Activity dashboard is the first new feature. It shows how agentic traffic changes over time, which agents visit the site and what they do there.1 The supported agents are those of the Google, OpenAI and Anthropic operators.1
| What the dashboard shows | Detail given by Microsoft |
|---|---|
| Change in agent traffic | the variation over time |
| Visiting agents | which ones come to the site |
| Actions | searches, form submissions, logins, downloads, appointment bookings, checkout |
The simulations
Simulation assessments test how well agents can complete an important task before a real customer journey fails. They show whether the task was completed, how long it took, how many interactions it needed and where the experience could improve. Microsoft starts with commerce and travel scenarios and plans to extend simulations to other kinds of journeys.1
Microsoft explains the need this way: an agent may find the right product but miss a promotion, or reach checkout and get stuck, and the site owner never learns why the customer was lost.1 The technical blockers on a page, code errors, performance and structure, are listed in the 2026 site audit checklist.
02Brand Agents: products in Copilot, Bing and MSN
Brand Agents began as a shopping assistant on a merchant's site, grounded in its live catalog, its shipping and return policies and its brand voice. The November 4 announcement takes it beyond the site.1
For Shopify and WooCommerce stores
For eligible WooCommerce and Shopify merchants, products can appear across Microsoft Copilot, Bing, MSN and more when shoppers ask AI for recommendations. The shopper discovers a product, then completes the purchase on the merchant's website.1 Merchants who already have Brand Agents installed need no additional catalog upload or configuration. During setup, they can offer the assistant on their site or use Brand Agents only to have their products appear across these experiences.1
Clarity's documentation spells out the mechanism: by accepting the Brand Agents terms, the merchant consents to its catalog being published to Microsoft Merchant Center, which makes it discoverable through Bing, Copilot and other Bing-grounded AI assistants. The Brand Agents catalog stays the primary source for the on-site assistant, and catalog updates are reflected in real time on the site and in these experiences.2
| Point | What Clarity's documentation says |
|---|---|
| Status | beta |
| Platforms | Shopify and WooCommerce sites |
| Supported surfaces | websites, not mobile apps |
| Catalog | published to Microsoft Merchant Center once the terms are accepted |
| Languages | designed to support conversations in all languages |
Part of the catalog's quality depends on product page markup, which the guide to structured data for e-commerce sites covers.
For local businesses
Brand Agents is expanding to local businesses. On the site, the assistant helps visitors understand what the business offers, find the service that fits and book it. Microsoft gives an example: asked “Can you help me fix a leaking pipe under my kitchen sink?”, the agent can identify the right service and offer to book it.1
The assistant connects with the booking and scheduling tools these businesses already use: Square, Jobber, HubSpot, Calendly, Housecall Pro and Salesforce. It can therefore capture leads and schedule appointments directly.1 Eligible WordPress businesses can get started today: install Clarity, choose “Clarity with Brand Agents,” publish the agent and connect a supported CRM.1
03Ask Clarity and the availability of the three features
Ask Clarity lets users ask a question about how visitors use a site. According to Microsoft, the tool analyzes the data much like an analyst: it explores possible explanations, tests them against the evidence, recommends what to do next and links findings to the relevant session recordings.1
What it analyzes and what early users say
The experience is currently focused mainly on website behavioral analytics: session recordings, heatmaps, funnels and events. Microsoft plans to add use cases and data sources, including AI visibility and advertising data.1 Its example: European shoppers who convert less well than other regions, with price as the suspected cause. Clarity tests the assumption against real visitor behavior and can find something else, such as untranslated pages or a delivery option that works in only one market.1
Microsoft cites a survey of early-access users, July to August 2026: 14 of 16 (88%) said they discovered something new about their business or website.1 An eCommerce manager at Pela Case says the tool showed that 80.2% of pageviews on the PowerBank landing page ended with no onward click.1
Who can use it
Ask Clarity is in closed beta for retailers, with a waitlist.1 Microsoft writes that today's capabilities are available globally to all its users and that Clarity is free.1 For Brand Agents, the documentation states beta status and the Shopify and WooCommerce platforms.2
| Feature | What it does | Microsoft's qualifier |
|---|---|---|
| Agent Activity | tracks Google, OpenAI and Anthropic agents and simulates tasks | simulations start with commerce and travel |
| Brand Agents | on-site assistant, products in Copilot, Bing and MSN | eligible Shopify and WooCommerce merchants, eligible WordPress businesses, beta according to the documentation |
| Ask Clarity | answers questions from session data | closed beta for retailers, waitlist |
Visits arriving from assistants can also be followed in the usual statistics: the GEO guide describes how to spot and isolate LLM traffic in analytics tools.
